General auto insurance is for owners of unmodified cars, trucks or SUVs that are driven regularly. It provides coverage for bodily injury, liability and property coverage for your vehicle or another person’s vehicle or property.
The vehicle must be registered in your name and the driver must have a valid license to operate the vehicle. In order to qualify for a standard car insurance policy, the vehicle may not be modified, but coverage for modified, antique or classic cars is available in a non-standard policy.
If the vehicle is being driven, you are required by the province of Ontario to have Liability and Accident Benefits coverage. Coverage for property damage to your vehicle is optional.
Car insurance provides liability insurance to protect you in case you are sued as the result of an accident. It also provides Accident Benefits including medical, rehab, death/funeral and income replacement coverage in the event you are injured in an accident involving a licensed vehicle. If you opt for collision or comprehensive coverage, this will protect against physical damage to your vehicle.
Premiums are based on many factors, and are specific to each person. They include the make/model and age of the vehicle, the drivers age and number of years licensed as well as any accidents or convictions the driver has had, where and how the vehicle is being driven, and the coverages required on the vehicle.
Classic or Antique Car Insurance provides coverage at a reduced rate for hobby or car collectors since the vehicles are not used for regular transportation. Talk to Keil-Dadson Insurance about our insurance solutions to keep you covered.
